The RIBA Journal – Healthy Low Energy Ventilation
Pleased to be featured in the April issue of The RIBA Journal that explores design ideas for low energy ventilation within buildings. Low energy ventilation has become especially relevant for people returning to work following Covid-19 but building design face the challenge of balancing improving air quality with associated energy use. Horizon House, a site we photographed on completion and currently occupied by the Environment Agency was designed by Alec French Architects and is an example for best ventilation. With mechanical ventilation heat recovery and openable windows, post-occupancy energy use was 120kWh/m2, some 60 per cent less than naturally ventilated buildings of similar size.
